ABOUT ME

Hi! I’m Siya.

The owner and creator of the travel blog “HINDFIRI”.

I’ve had a love affair with travelling from a very young age. With the passing years, my love for travelling has increased. I get the travel gene from my parents. They always took us on trips during the summer holidays. My parents took me on my first road trip when I was just 6 months old.

I don’t have any interesting back story about how I was working a 9-5 job and then I realized that travelling was my real passion. Sorry, nothing of the sort happened to me. My parents always supported my choices. So when I told them I wanted to start a travel blog instead of finding a job they were ok with it.

I love every aspect of travelling be it researching about my upcoming trip, planning out my tour, packing and everything in between.

Anyway enough with the background story.

I got the idea for my blog when I came back from my road trip to Bhutan. Many people were amazed that I drove to Bhutan from my house. They had so many questions about how I was able to drive my car in another country, the budget, the route etc. I realized that many people might want to go on such adventures as well but don’t have the right info. That’s when the idea of starting my travel blog took root. I wanted to share my experiences with others and also earn money doing what I love.

I’ve explored the whole of India by road and visited a few foreign countries. Road trips are my favourite. My road to Ladakh and Bhutan are most memorable.

I’m sure most Indians reading the previous statement are jealous of me. A road trip to Ladakh has become a sort of rite of passage of travelling. I’m so glad I got to travel to Ladakh when it was not too crowded with tourists.

These two road trips allowed me to learn about myself as a traveller. One thing I learned from all my road trips is that I can never travel full-time. Yes. I love travelling but that doesn’t necessarily mean that I just want to keep flying from one destination to the next.

Another thing I discovered about myself is that I would rather travel to one destination at a time and explore it thoroughly than travel to several places and explore them half-heartedly.

I’m a touristy backpacker kind of traveller. I love visiting tourist places as well as travelling to off-beaten tracks. I try to spend less on transportation, entry tickets, etc. But when it comes to accommodations I do not compromise. Most of my accommodations are at least 3 stars.

The word “HINDFIRI” is a Marathi word meaning a wandering girl. I fit that description perfectly so I named my blog the same. In my blog “HINDFIRI” I will be sharing my experiences, mishaps, adventures and other travel-related tips. If you love road trips, exploring new places, luxury accommodations then you have landed in the right place.
