GUHAGAR 4-DAY ITINERARY

Today’s blog post outlines an itinerary for Guhagar from Pune. The Guhagar 4-day itinerary includes travel days as well.

Before writing this blog post, numerous relatives and friends enquired about Guhagar– where is it? Where did you stay? How many days were you there? What did you do?

I concluded that maybe many people might have the same queries. So, here’s a brief intro to Guhagar.

ABOUT GUHAGAR

Located 241 km from Pune, Guhagar is a small coastal village along Maharashtra’s Konkan Coast.

Guhagar, unlike other popular tourist towns, is untouched by modern development.

If you’re looking for a quiet and serene place to spend a few days away from the hustle and bustle of city life, head to Guhagar.

The mornings are lazy, with a hint of activities sprinkled throughout the day and quiet and peaceful evenings.

You can spend the days swimming in the sea, relaxing in your hotel or exploring the neighbouring villages.

So, here’s the perfect Guhagar 4-day itinerary.

DAY 1 OF GUHAGAR 4-DAY ITINERARY

Guhagar is 241 km from Pune and takes 6-7 hours.

As I always recommend, start your journey as early as possible–if you’re driving there– because traffic is light in the morning.

I left my house around 4 a.m. to avoid traffic. Also, the route was under construction in some areas. I wanted to leave early so I had more beach time.

The route to Guhagar I runs via Varandha Ghat, a scenic route.

I travelled this route during my trip to Karde Beach near Dapoli.

It is a scenic route. The only downside is that restaurants and eateries are few and far between.

Upon arriving in Guhagar, head to your hotel. Check in, drop off your luggage and head to the closest restaurant or Khanaval for lunch.

TRAVEL TIP:- Don’t forget to order ukadiche modak for dinner at your hotel.

After lunch, head back to the hotel and relax.

Around 4 p.m., enjoy a cup of tea before heading to the beach.

Spend a couple of hours swimming in the sea, indulging in water activities, collecting shells or simply walking along the shore.

Head back to the hotel, refresh, and get ready for dinner.

After dinner, return to the hotel for an early night.

DAY 2 OF GUHAGAR 4-DAY ITINERARY

After a good night’s sleep, enjoy a slow morning. Go for a walk on the beach or an early morning swim.

I spent my mornings sitting on the porch of my hotel room while enjoying the hustle and bustle of the hotel’s morning staff.

Enjoy breakfast at a nearby restaurant or the hotel.

I had breakfast at the hotel because I was too lazy to walk or drive to the nearest restaurant.

After a traditional Maharashtrian breakfast, get ready to explore the neighbouring villages.

The first destination is the Hedavi Ganesh temple. From there, drive to Hedavi beach.

In the distance, you’ll see a Mahadev temple. Stop here for a while before continuing to walk.

Climb the rocky shore till you see a gorge on the surface. Water rushes up the gap (at high tide), and a foam of salty seawater bursts out. It’s a beautiful sight known as Bamanghal.

After seeing Bamanghal, it’s time to drive to the next destination, Velneshwar Beach.

It is renowned for its white sand beach. If you want, you can indulge in the various water activities available.

Later, have lunch at one of the Khanavals on the beach.

Next, it’s time to drive back to Guhagar.

Upon returning to Guhagar, you can relax at the hotel, go souvenir shopping in town or head to the beach.

I chose the beach, where I spent a few hours alternating between swimming and collecting shells.

After the sun set over the horizon and the sky darkened, I retraced my steps to the hotel.

Like the previous evening, I freshened up and beaded to a restaurant for dinner.

All the exploring, swimming and walking tired me out. I was out like a light within minutes of returning to my accommodations.

DAY 3 OF GUHAGAR 4-DAY ITINERARY

The third day is even more relaxed with little activity.

Start the day with another slow morning.

I spent all my mornings in Guhagar, sitting on the small patio of my hotel room. I’d sip my hotel cup of tea while watching the staff buzzing around, preparing for the day’s work.

You can spend the entire morning as you please. You can go to the beach for a morning swim, a walk on the shore, or explore the village.

I chose the beach. Whenever I visit the coast, I try to spend a lot of time in the sea.

As had been my routine for the past couple of days, I walked down to the beach for a morning swim, collected shells and helped my sister make sandy sculptures on the shore.

Around 9 a.m., I arrived back at the hotel and freshened up. It was already late, so I had breakfast at the hotel.

Breakfast consisted of misal pav, tea and biscuits. Then, I headed to the market. After browsing through the handful of shops, my mother bought a jar of mango pulp and mango vadi.

Around 2 p.m., I had lunch at one of the Khanavals in the market.

After the lazy morning and relaxing afternoon, it’s time to explore another underrated gem, Gopalgad Fort.

The Gopalgad Fort is 17 km from Guhagar, and it takes 30-35 minutes to drive there.

You might be wondering why not visit the first during the day. Well, that’s because the lighthouse on the fort opens after 5 p.m.

According to my hotel owner, the lighthouse is a must-visit. Therefore, the later hour.

After exploring the fort, return to Guhagar.

Have dinner and then head to bed.

DAY 4 OF GUHAGAR 4-DAY

The weekend trip to Guhagar comes to an end. It’s time to pack your bags and return home. But it’s not yet over.

You still have time to squeeze in a morning swim at the beach before you’re ready to leave.

I woke up early, as I wanted to get as much Vitamin Sea as possible before returning. After a walk on the beach and collecting another 30 shells, I returned to the hotel.

Shells on a hand while watching the sunset.

After showering and packing the luggage, we headed into the main market square for breakfast.

Now, you have two options– you can drive home without any detours or drive to Mahabaleshwar and then head home.

I chose the latter one.

We reached Mahabaleshwar around lunchtime. After having lunch, we headed to the only place that mattered, Mapro Garden.

As you know, Brownie with ice cream and Strawberry with cream are mandatory when at Mapro Garden.

It was almost 5 p.m. when we browsed the aisles at Mapro Garden. We all shuffled into the car before heading home.

The drive from Mahabaleshwar took 3 hours, and another hour for dinner. It was around 10 p.m. when we reached home.

CONCLUSION

That brings us to the end of the Guhagar 4-day itinerary. I have been to Mahabaleshwar countless times, so I didn’t want to spend another night at the beautiful hill station.

However, if you want, you could extend your trip by staying at the hill station for a day or two.

Before concluding the Guhagar 4-day itinerary, here’s a summary of this relaxing weekend trip.

  • Day 1:- Pune to Guhagar
  • Day 2:- Guhagar to Hedavi to Velneshwar
  • Day 3:- Guhagar to Gopalgad Fort
  • Day 4:- Guhagar to Mahabaleshwar to Pune

I hope this itinerary was helpful. If you have any queries, let me know in the comments.

I hope this ignites your wanderlust because

Paradise is just one beach away.
