MY ASIA TRAVEL BUCKET LIST

Asia is the land of diverse cultures, foods, people, languages, music, you name it. There so many places I want to visit, foods to sample, culture to experience. That’s the reason I had to create a separate post for my Asia travel bucket list.

That’s why Asia I love travelling around Asia. Also, it is easy on the pockets. 😂

So here’s my Asia bucket list.

INDIA

I love this country. I’m glad to have been born in this undeniably beautiful country. Every state is different. I have travelled all over the country and every time a new destination pops up. The travel list is infinite.

Well, people might say I’m biased. But if you have travelled to India you know it’s the truth.

  • Undertake the Kedarkantha trek during winters.
  • Swim under the Dudhsagar waterfalls in Goa.
  • Go river rafting in Rishikesh.
  • Scuba diving in the Andamans.
  • Go on a road trip to Ladakh.
  • Visit Kashmir during the winters.
  • Paragliding in Himachal Pradesh.
  • Visit Jog Falls in the monsoons. (Visited in September)
  • Climb to the top of the Statue of Unity.
  • Visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
  • Watch the parade at Wagha Border.
  • Walk on the double root bridge in Meghalaya.
  • Take a boat ride on the Dawki river.
  • Trek to Amarnath.
  • Visit the ruins of Hampi.
  • Explore the Badami caves.
  • Ride the toy train in Darjeeling.
  • Walk around the palaces and forts of Rajasthan.
  • Chadar trek.
  • Visit the Taj Mahal.
  • Go on a road trip to Spiti.
  • Overnight trek to Prashar lake during summer and winter.
  • Trek to Chandratal lake.
  • Ride a coracle at Hongenakkal waterfall.
  • Explore and tour the seven sisters. (Visited 2 of them)
  • Walk on the skywalk at Sikkim.
  • Reach Nathula Pass.
  • Stay in the barrel-shaped rooms at Sula Vineyards in Nashik.
  • Trek the Harishchand gadh in Maharashtra.
  • Explore the Ajanta Caves.
  • Visit Ellora Caves.
  • Stay at the Lake Palace in Udaipur.
  • Climb on top of the Jatayu statue.
  • Visit the Konark sun temple.
  • Drive to Dhanushkodi.
  • Visit the huge Shiva statue at Murudeshwar.
  • Drive to Lonar lake.
  • Attend the Rann of Kutch Festival.
  • Take a dip in the Ganga at Haridwar.
  • Stay in the house boat on Dal lake.
  • Visit the Chitrakote falls (Niagara of India).
  • Stay at the Taj Mahal hotel, Mumbai.
  • Take a road trip to the kokan beaches.(Been to most of the coastal towns)
  • Witness the autumn season in Kashmir.
  • Visit in the Pyongyang lake.
  • Visit the Key monastery.
  • Go to the last tea stall of India.
  • Post a letter from the last post office of India.
  • Participate in the Navaratri celebrations in Bengal.
  • Cheer at the boat races in Kerela.
  • Watch the floating diyas at Varanasi during Diwali.
  • Bathe elephants in Kerela.
  • Climb Kalsubai fort.
  • Visit the Tawang monastery.
  • Witness Dussehra in Mysore.
  • Stay in the tents at Nubra valley.
  • Explore South and old Goa.

VIETNAM

The Golden Bridge and the Ha Long Bay have been on my bucket list for a long time. It time to tick them off the list.

  • Take instagrammable pictures at the Golden Bridge in Da Nang.
  • Release lanterns at night in Hoi An.
  • Explore the Cu Chi tunnels.
  • Go on a 3-day cruise on the Ha Long Bay.
  • Climb the 150 steps to Marble Mountain.
  • Take a boat ride around the Mekong Delta.
  • Try the egg coffee.
  • Watch the water puppet show.
  • Take a day trip to the Perfume Pagoda.
  • Travel to ho Chi Minh City.
  • Visit the Ban Gioc-Dentian falls.
  • Go on a food tour.

BHUTAN

The land of the Thunder dragon should be on your bucket list. This landlocked country measures its progress in terms of happiness. The kingdom of Bhutan offers scenic hiking trails, beautiful monasteries and clear rivers. You cannot miss out on the delicious Bhutanese cuisine. The people are kind and hospitable.

  • Visit Ha valley.
  • Go to Chele La Pass (Bhutan’s highest motorable road).
  • Take in the breathtaking view at Dochula pass.
  • Try the mouthwatering Thukpa.

NEPAL

  • Visit the Chitwan National park.
  • Reach Mount Everest base camp.
  • Stay in Pokhara.
  • Relax at Nagarkot hill station.
  • Visit the mysterious Davis falls.
  • Witness the 360-degree view of Himalayan ranges.

MALDIVES

The emerald and turquoise waters, diving spots, local and private islands attract travellers.

  • Stay in a water villa.
  • Swim with the Manta rays.
  • Stay in a beach villa.
  • Go shipwreck diving.
  • Fly in a seaplane.
  • Dine-in an underwater restaurant.
  • Go deep-sea diving.
  • Stay at a local island.
  • Hire a speed boat.

SRI LANKA

It might be small in size but it is just as beautiful as any other Asian country. The country offers scenic hikes, white sandy beaches.

  • Trek to the Nine arch bridge.
  • Walk around the Galle Dutch Fort.
  • Climb the Galle Fort Lighthouse.
  • Climb to the top of Adam’s peak.
  • Visit the Ravana falls.
  • Go to the world’s end at Nuwara Eliya.
  • Walk the sandy beach of Bentota.
  • Climb the Lion’s Rock (Sigiriya).
  • Take a train ride to Ella.

CAMBODIA

After seeing the Angkor Wat ruins in the movie Lara Croft: Tomb Raider I wanted to visit Cambodia. Additionally the ruins are steeped in history. So the historian in me had to add Cambodia to the list.

  • Explore the Angkor Wat ruins.
  • Scuba dive at Koh Kong.

MYANMAR

For as long as I can remember I’ve always wanted to ride a hot air balloon and watch the sunrise over Bagan. So, Myanmar had to be on the list.

  • Go on a hot air balloon ride in Bagan.
  • Watch the sunrise and sunset over the temple complex on Bagan.
  • Explore the Bagan temple complex.
  • Go on a food tour.
  • Go on a road trip to Myanmar from India.

SINGAPORE

Singapore is the first foreign countries I travelled to. Therefore it holds a special place in my heart. Singapore is constantly changing and new sights emerging. Thus, I’m constantly adding items.

  • Tour the Changi airport. I’ve been there several times over the years but I still haven’t seen the entire airport yet.
  • The Sentosa Merlion tower.
  • Witness the spectacular Wings of Time (laser, fountain and music show).
  • Racing down Skyline Luge.
  • Experience the Megazip at Mega Adventure Park.
  • Explore the Gardens by the Bay.
  • Walk along the Macritchie Reservoir Treetop walk.
  • Eat spicy curries in the Little India district.
  • Visit the Jurong Bird Park.
  • Walk on Helix Bridge.
  • Browse the boutiques in Haji Lane.
  • Enjoy the Marina Bay Light show.

SOUTH KOREA

Korean food is the reason South Korea moved up the ladder of my unmissable destinations. Besides the food the culture is similar and different from my own. After researching and reading about the country I was excited to travel here.

  • Visit the most dangerous border, the DMZ.
  • Explore nature At Jeju island.
  • Go on an authentic Korean food tour.
  • Attend the Jinju lantern festival.
  • Sing my heart out at a Karaoke.
  • Dress up in traditional Korean Hanbok.
  • Celebrate the cherry blossoms festival.
  • Relax at the beaches in Busan.
  • Explore the capital city of Seoul.
  • Attend a k-pop concert.
  • Attend the popular k-drama locations.
  • Ride the Hallyeosudo cable car.

MALAYSIA

I was very young when I first visited Malaysia and don’t remember much. Hopefully, soon I will be able to travel and make more memories.

  • Visit the Petronas Twin towers.
  • Climb to the Batu Caves.
  • Spend the day or two in Genting.
  • Watch fireflies at Kampung Kuantan Firefly Park in Kuala Selangor.
  • Volunteer to help sea turtles.
  • Walk on the SkyBridge and ride the Skycab in Langkawi.
  • Catch a Formula one race in Sepang.

THAILAND

The turquoise waters, elephant sanctuaries, food and last but not the least shopping are reasons why this country has made it on my bucket list.

  • Go shopping in Bangkok.
  • Cruise the floating market.
  • Take a day trip to Chiang Rai.
  • Visited the old city of Chiang Mai.
  • Relax at the beaches in Phuket.
  • Go scuba diving and snorkelling at various diving sites.
  • Take a dip in the Emerald and Blue pools in the Thung Teao Forest Natural Park.
  • Explore the Khai Luang Cave.
  • Join the celebrations during the lantern festival.
  • Go on a road trip to Thailand from India.

JAPAN

Earlier I had about 3-4 items on the list regarding Japan. But as I read more and more about Japan I found myself continuosly adding items to my list.

  • Witness the cherry blossoms.
  • Climb to the top of Mount Fuji.
  • Relax at the hot springs (onsen).
  • Visit a sake brewery.
  • Ride the bullet train.
  • Eat matcha ice cream.
  • Stay at the capsule hotel.
  • Go scuba diving in Okinawa.
  • Take a picture at the Shibuya crossing.
  • Wander around the Arishiyama bamboo forest.
  • Book a table at the Robot Restaurant.
  • Visit the Atomic dome in Hiroshima.
  • Watch a Sumo wrestling tournament.
  • Wander the Fushimi Inari.
  • Go street karting in Tokyo.
  • Rent a kimono.
  • Take instagrammable pictures of the setting sun at Yasaka- no- Tou.
  • Watch the sunset from the observation deck of the highest tower in Japan- The Harukas 300.

CHINA

After watching a promo video of Range rover I was amazed by the beauty of this country. And of course I have to see the Great Wall of China.

  • Climb Tianmen Mountain to Heaven’s Gate.
  • Walk along the Great Wall of China.
  • Admire the views of the Avatar mountains.
  • Visit the Forbidden City.
  • Cruise down the Yangzste river.
  • Eat hotpot.
  • Visit the Potala Palace in Tibet.
  • Marvel at the Terracotta army.
  • Climb to the temples in Mount Fanjing.
  • Walk on the Ruyi bridge.
  • Visit the vessel.
  • Go on a safari in the Gobi desert and see Crescent lake.
  • Watch a kung fu performance at Shaolin temple.
  • See the Giant pandas.

This is my Asia bucket list. However, this is not my final list. I will keep updating this list. I would love to know about your bucket list as well. Maybe there’s something on your list that I would love to add to mine.
