HOTEL CASABLANCA, GOA – HOTEL REVIEW

Today’s blog post is a hotel review of Hotel Casablanca in Goa (North).

During my recent trip to Goa, I stayed at Hotel Casablanca in Calangute. It was a last-minute trip (my Goa trips are always spontaneous). Fortunately, we were able to find accommodations at the last minute.

It was my first time staying at Hotel Casablanca.

ABOUT HOTEL CASABLANCA

Hotel Casablanca is a large property, just a 2-minute walk to Calangute Beach. That’s one of the reasons why I chose the hotel- its proximity to the beach.

Upon entering the small gate, the reception is the first thing you see. The small structure has a porch to seat the guests while checking in. Bushes, palms and coconut trees encircle the reception and hide the rest of the property from your view.

Hotel Casablanca comprises- four 3-storey buildings, a swimming pool and an in-house restaurant.

The hotel follows the typical beach colour scheme- white-washed walls, a shack-style restaurant and splashes of blue.

Trees, bushes and shrubs provide guests privacy from the neighbouring houses and buildings.

If you’re searching for a hotel just a few minutes from the beach, easy on your pockets, and family-friendly, Hotel Casablanca is the perfect place.

ROOMS AT HOTEL CASABLANCA

The hotel comprises- four 3-storey buildings. Each floor has four rooms.

There are types of rooms, standard rooms and suites.

The standard room

The standard rooms and suites are almost identical and have the same amenities. But differ in size. The suites are slightly larger than the standard rooms.

The suites have two rooms, a living room and a bedroom, a TV, AC, ensuite bathroom, balcony, WiFi, kettle, and a queen-size bed. Standard rooms have all those facilities, minus the living room.

Only two buildings have unobstructed views of the swimming pool. The corner rooms of the other buildings have partial views.

I stayed in a standard room and a suite during my stay. Both rooms were spacious and clean. I didn’t find much difference in comfort between the two accommodations. So, it doesn’t matter which room you choose. Apart from the price difference, both rooms are comfortable.

TRAVEL TIP:- Those travelling with children or triple-sharing opt for the suite. It’s slightly more spacious.

My room was on the right corner of the top floor. It was a standard room. I didn’t have a balcony, but I had a small terrace, which was even better.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t enjoy the terrace due to heavy rainfall. But the roof is spacious and has chairs. So, you can enjoy a peaceful morning or evening while enjoying a cup of tea.

THE POOL AT HOTEL CASABLANCA

The swimming pool is at the centre of the property, right next to the restaurant.

The swimming pool

I spent 50% of my vacation at the swimming pool and the other 50% at the beach. My siblings and I were not in the water, only when we were out for lunch, dinner or sleeping.

The staff cleaned the pool regularly, but the leaves and twigs kept falling into the water. So, new guests might think the pool was not clean. But that’s not the case.

Hotel Casablanca has a large rectangular swimming pool. The pool is shallow, about 4 ft at one end and 6ft deep at the other. They don’t have a baby pool for kids.

If you have children, don’t let them near the pool without supervision because there’s no lifeguard.

The cool water was refreshing and ideal for an afternoon swim. Also, you can order some drinks to enjoy in the pool.

Hotel Casablanca has a few rules and guidelines for the swimming pool. Guests should wear swimming costumes before entering the pool. If you don’t have a swimming costume, you can buy one at the corner store, a few feet from the hotel.

TIMINGS:- The pool is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The pool was the best part of the hotel for me. That’s because it was open till 8 p.m. My siblings and I spent hours in the pool at night before we had to leave for dinner.

HOTEL CASABLANCA IN-HOUSE RESTAURANT

Their in-house restaurant is right by the pool. It reminds me of a beach shack.

I can’t comment on the food because I only ate breakfast (included in my stay) here.

The breakfast was from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. (if I remember correctly). It was mostly an Indian spread. One day, it was Idli and Sambar. The next day, it was plain Paratha and curd. On other days, it was upma, veg noodles, Puri bhaji, etc. Tea, coffee, hot milk, bread, butter, jam, eggs, cornflakes, and fruit (watermelon) were fixed staples.

The breakfast was tasty.

TRAVEL TIP:- If you don’t want to eat at their in-house restaurant, don’t worry. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance from the hotel. On the first day, I dined at the Spice Works restaurant. It had good chicken and fish.

PARKING FACILITIES

Hotel Casablanca has a hospitable staff, a big swimming pool, and spacious rooms. But it doesn’t have private parking.

So, where do you park your vehicle? Outside. On the side of the road.

When I arrived, the lack of a parking lot worried me. On the first night, I was sceptical about leaving my car outside on the roadside. But the security guard assured me my car was safe. And it was under good care.

The road leading to the hotel is about 10-15 feet wide. So, park your vehicles as close to the wall as possible to avoid traffic jams.

While the car was safe outside, there was only one disadvantage. There was no shade. The seats were burning hot. It was nearly impossible to sit inside the car when going for lunch.

Other than that, everything about Hotel Casablanca was great.

THE STAFF AT HOTEL CASABLANCA

Last but not least, thank you to the staff at Hotel Casablanca for making it a comfortable stay.

The hotel manager (Sorry, I forgot your name😓) was kind, friendly and efficient. We were tired from the long drive and wanted to rest. So, he quickly checked us in without any dilly-dallying (unlike some hotels). Also, whenever he saw guests, he always smiled and asked if they were comfortable and enjoying their stay. Which I have observed not many people do.

On the second day, my siblings and I were enjoying the pool. We had been in there all morning. I was thirsty but didn’t want to leave the pool to get a bottle from the room. So, the kitchen staff asked if we would like refreshments while swimming. It shows that the staff is attentive.

And on the third day, I had to change rooms due to a previous booking. I moved to a suite. The staff had informed me about the change, but I wasn’t done packing by the given time. And, not once did they push me to hurry up. I appreciated that.

Also, the housekeeping staff cleaned the rooms regularly.

It’s the interactions and behaviour of the staff that show the quality of the hotel. And I can say that Hotel Casablanca is a good one.

CONCLUSION

That brings us to the end of the review of Hotel Casablanca. Wow! That was a long review. But I just wanted to cover all bases. Or you can read the abbreviated version on Google Maps.

Again, this is not a sponsored post. It is my experience of Hotel Casablanca in North Goa.

If you’re travelling to Goa with family or are a girl group, I will recommend Hotel Casablanca.

I hope this review was helpful. If you have any queries, let me know in the comments. Also, if you’re travelling to Goa, read my other North Goa posts.

A hotel is not just a place to sleep but a sanctuary to rest and rejuvenate.
