I was in Leh for three days. On the second evening, I was walking towards the market. That’s when I saw a window. I could see that the place was overflowing with people. Below the window was a sign in block letters, “Wazwan Planet”. There is another sign facing the market, “New Wazwan Planet”. Both belong to the same restaurant. Seeing how crowded it was, I decided to dine here. Crowds mean good food.

ABOUT THE NEW WAZWAN PLANET

New Wazwan Planet is in Leh’s market. You can find the entrance towards the side of the building. Climb the stairs to the second floor.

The restaurant has two sections— old and new. The older one is large with simple interiors. And the new section is comparatively smaller with slightly upgraded interiors. Overall the restaurant is simple, nothing fancy.

TIMINGS:- They are open daily from 12 pm to 3-3:30 pm and 6 pm to 10:30 pm.

NOTE:- The best way to reach here is walking. There is no parking area near the restaurant.

THE FOOD

New Wazwan Planet serves Indian, Chinese, Tandoori and Arabian cuisines. But the Kashmiri Wazwan is its most popular item. Unfortunately, I didn’t sample the Rogan Josh, but I heard it’s delicious.

I ordered the tandoori chicken, butter chicken and chicken biryani.

I liked the tandoori chicken. It was soft and well cooked. The butter chicken was yummy, and the quantity was adequate. And the chicken biryani was so-so. But the overall meal was good. Also, the restaurant is a little expensive.

THE SERVICE AT NEW WAZWAN PLANET

I can’t say the service is slow. The menu warns that service takes 25-30 minutes, longer if the restaurant is buy. If you don’t mind the long wait, do visit Wazwan Planet. Otherwise, find another restaurant. Also, during peak season, there is a long queue of hungry patrons waiting to be seated.

I suggest that the restaurant increase their staff. When I visited, only two people attending 7-8 tables.

TIP:- Place your entire order at once.

CONCLUSION

New Wazwan Planet is a good restaurant for meat lovers. If you like meat or want to try the famous Kashmiri Wazwan, visit this place. It is a little expensive but worth visiting.
