“ZAS” is a Tibetan word. I don’t know the meaning, and neither does Google. Also, I’ve been reading the name wrong. I was searching for the restaurant’s location when I realised my mistake. The name is “ZAS”, not “ZXS”. Oops!! But that’s not important.

I had planned on visiting this restaurant on my first day in Leh. But it was had closed for the afternoon. But I had the chance to eat here on my last day in the city. My family and I were tired after exploring the city. No one was willing to walk to the market. Luckily this restaurant was close to my hotel. Also, I had been meaning to visit.

ABOUT ZAS RESTAURANT

“ZAS” is a small restaurant on Old Leh road. It is one of the few restaurants among the long line of hotels. It is very easy to find.

The restaurant is small. The interior is simple and minimal. It is a great place to sit and enjoy quality time with friends and family.

The restaurant is near several hotels. The best way to reach here is to walk. You can also drive here. But you have to park curbside.

“ZAS” is open daily, from 9 am to 10 pm. However, they are closed in the late afternoon for lunch. I think it is around 3:30-4 pm.

THE FOOD

The restaurant offers Indian, Chinese, Tandoori and local cuisine. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also, the food quality was good, and the curry quantity was adequate.

I had chicken manchow soup. The soup was great and had more chicken than most restaurants. Also, the rotis were soft and heavily buttered.😋 The chicken curry was good and not too spicy.

We were nine people. So you can imagine the amount of food we consumed and the big check. But the prices were reasonable and not too pricey.

THE SERVICE AT ZAS

The food at ZAS was good, and the ambience was peaceful. But the service was a little slow. Other than that, I do not have any complains. The upside of slow service was freshly prepared food.

Leh has many restaurants. It is one of the good places. So when visiting Leh, don’t forget to visit ZAS.
